Maria Kempinska MBE

Owner, Jongleurs Comedy Ltd
Maria Kempinska has given many of Britain’s bestknown comedians their first break, from Rory Bremner and Harry Enfield to Eddie Izzard and Paul Merton, she has had a hand in their success.

Yet the founder of the Jongleurs chain of comedy clubs, who now rubs shoulders with the rich and famous and has an MBE to her name, has come a long way from her childhood in a council estate in Watford. As one of five children, the offspring of Polish refugees, Maria longed to escape poverty.
