What We Believe
A diverse workforce brings new skills, makes the sector more appealing to a wide pool of recruits and improves staff retention. Atkins has been working towards this goal for several years, introducing policies and programmes to help retain the skilled women we have, to attract new graduates and to influence young female students to choose a career in engineering and design. The Modern Muse campaign aligns with our commitment to being an employer of choice for women.
As a very large company, our staff interact with young women and girls via school and university visits, work experiences, and work placements all around the UK. One group of colleagues based in Bristol have set themselves an objective is to raise engineering awareness amongst Year 9 and Year 11 students in local schools; while also increasing the awareness of engineering within Atkins amongst local university undergraduates. Experience days, settings challenges and work experience are just a few things the group are involved with. We also support a publication for 14-17 year olds to encourage them to think about engineering as a career.
